Dennis’s research focuses on coastal zone law and management, as well as fisheries law and management. He is also interested in admiralty law, including marine pollution law and marine insurance. Dennis serves as Legal Counsel and Risk Manager for the University National Oceanographic Laboratory System (UNOLS), where he investigates legal issues that affect oceanographic research.
As an Affiliated Professor of Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island, Dennis teaches Coastal Zone Law and Marine and Coastal Law. He co-founded the International Marina Institute, where he frequently lectures on marine law topics. Dennis is also an Associate Dean at URI’s Graduate School of Oceanography.
Dennis graduated with Honors from Xavier University and then went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati, as well as his M.M.A. from URI.
